Requirements for the 17 places
Seventeen beds are at «tariffa calmierata» (the reduced average rate under Italian Decree 481/2024), open to anyone who meets the call's requirements: no minimum threshold applies, merit is used to form the ranking. Eight beds are reserved for capable and deserving students, including those without means, according to the ISEE and ISPE thresholds set by the call.
- 2026-27 enrolment, or application to enrol, at the University of Catania, ABADIR, the «V. Bellini» Higher Institute of Music or the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania
- Not already assigned another public or affiliated right-to-study bed
- No minimum school-leaving mark: merit forms the ranking (school-leaving mark for first-years, average exam mark for later years)
- Five beds in single rooms and twelve in double rooms, all with a private bathroom
Requirements for the 8 DSU places
These are the beds under Article 8, paragraphs 2 and 3 of Ministerial Decree 481/2024: two in single rooms and six in doubles, with a shared bathroom on the floor and a lower housing charge for the student. Systemia, the implementing body, allocates them through its own procedure authorised by the Ministry, applying the same merit and income requirements as the ERSU Catania call for 2026-27; HOMA handles the assessment of applications, document collection and communications with applicants.
- First year: no entry threshold, merit assessed afterwards (15 credits by 10/08/2027 and 20 by 30/11/2027)
- Later years: rising credit thresholds by course and enrolment year, to be met by 10/08/2026
- Credit bonus usable once only; thresholds reduced by 40% for disability of 66% or more
- ISEE not exceeding €25,000.00
- ISPE (property indicator) not exceeding €60,000.00

Allocation sessions (3)
Applications are always open until the beds run out. Apply by a session date and you are included in that ranking; apply later and you move to the next one.

Intervention and funding
Systemia S.r.l. owns the building and is the implementing party for the project, carried out under Ministerial Decree 481/2024 of the Italian Ministry of University and Research, with support from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Systemia has entrusted HOMA with the commercialisation of the residence's beds.
The building
Unires Battiati is an exclusive residence in Sant'Agata Li Battiati, on the outskirts of Catania: a standalone three-storey building, 1,200 square metres designed for residents' comfort. Sixteen rooms, single and double, alongside carefully designed shared spaces — kitchen, study room, gym, TV room and green area — for student life without compromise.
