Casa ai Lavoratori, City of Milan: 120 regenerated public apartments

Where the demand comes from

Hospitals, companies and essential services struggle to bring staff where the housing market is tight: a job offer is not enough without a home at a sustainable rent. That is the need staff housing answers.

The national framework

This is not only about Milan. Decree-law No. 66 of 7 May 2026, converted with amendments by law No. 116 of 2 July 2026, placed the recovery of public housing among the State's priorities: dedicated funds, a commissioner with powers to derogate on the complex interventions defined by the law, the goal of putting vacant public housing stock back into use. By law, the pool of workers away from home now spans both the private and public sectors — school, healthcare, police, national fire and rescue corps and armed forces personnel — as well as seasonal workers in construction and building-systems installation. It is the ground on which our experience in Milan keeps growing.

Within the City of Milan's Casa ai Lavoratori programme we manage 120 regenerated public apartments, let to workers at controlled rents.
